Overview
You can hop on our Kiel bus at any stop you choose, but we might as well start at the beginning. The first stop is Hauptbahnhof, the main railway station, perfect if you’re arriving in the city by train. The bus also stops at the ferry and ship terminals to pick up passengers arriving at those.
A great place to hop off is the Schiffahrtmuseum, a museum dedicated to the city’s long and proud maritime history. It’s the perfect place to learn more about the city as Kiel’s links to the sea couldn’t be any stronger. The museum is housed in the city’s old fish market, which even looks a bit like an upturned ship!
Our next hop-off recommendation is Reventloubrücke, where you can enjoy views out over the water and conjure up images of the historic Kiel you’ve learned about at the Schiffahrtmuseum. There’s also a fantastic aquarium, which is a great place to visit with the kids.
You can’t come to Kiel without hopping off at NOK Kanalfähre, where you can see the amazing canal itself. This amazing man-made structure was built to join the North Sea with the Baltic. It took over 8 years to build and more than nine thousand workers were involved in its construction.
Our last must-hop-off stop is the University of Kiel, where you can enjoy the relaxed student atmosphere. Particularly worth a visit here are the university’s botanical gardens, an excellent place to relax and think about the things you’ve seen during the day. First bus departs from Stop 1 at 10:45am. Last bus departs from Stop 1 at 4pm. Tour duration - 90 minutes. 1st April - 2nd June and 29th August - 31st October, the bus will run daily at 10:45am, 12:30pm, 2:15pm and 4pm. 3rd June - 28th August: From Monday to Thursday the bus will run at 10:45am, 12:30pm, 2:15pm and 4pm. Friday to Sunday the bus will run at 10:15am, 10:45am, 12pm, 12:30pm, 1:45pm, 2:15pm, 3:30pm and 4pm. Mobile and printed paper vouchers are accepted on this tour. Mobile vouchers must be redeemed at Stop 1 Hauptbahnhof (Central Train Station). Printed paper vouchers can be redeemed at any of the stops along the route
