Overview
The Sant'Anna dei Lombardi Complex, while built for monks, was fit for a king – and the royals made sure to pay it patronage. The church flourished under a succession of deeply religious monarchs.
Now you can see the accumulated works of master artists. Paintings by Pedro de Rubiales were imported from Spain, the Modenese sculptor Guido Mazzoni crafted one of his masterpieces depicting the lamentation over the dead Christ for the church, and the sacristy was given a frescoed ceiling emblematic of High Renaissance art.
