Overview
The tracks the Skunk Train rides are filled with history. As you're breathing in fresh forest air, cast your mind back to 1885 when the Fort Bragg Railroad was created to help transport lumber. Times have changed, but the magic of the redwoods remains, and you're able to indulge in a historical train journey which introduces you to the majestic beauty of Northern California.
During this seven-mile-long ride – lasting roughly 90 minutes – you'll journey into ancient redwood forests. The train stops at the tranquil setting of Glen Blair Junction. There's a 15-minute stop here, but you're welcome to stay and catch the next train back (roughly two hours later) as you relax and take in the views.
Know before you go
There is bar car with snacks, non-alcoholic drinks, beer, wine, and spirits, as well as an open-air car
. Trains and railbikes run rain or shine, please always dress appropriately
. Trains will stop at Glen Blair Junction for 15 minutes, allowing you to get off and stretch your legs and explore. Or, if you’d like to spend more time walking the trails amongst the redwoods, you can remain and catch the next train (roughly two hours later)
. Feel free to bring a packed lunch (no alcohol, please) to enjoy at one of the picnic tables
