Blenheim Palace Day Trip with Admission
Spend the day at this awe-inspiring stately home, the current private residence of the 11th Duke and Duchess of Marlborough, perhaps best-known as the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill.
Admire the stunning details behind the portraits, tapestry and furniture in the lavishly decorated State Rooms, which includes ornate furniture by Boulle, Savonniere carpet and the iconic 'Victories' series of tapestries celebrating the Duke's victory over the French armies of 'The Sun King', Louis XIV, at the Battle of Blenheim.
Enjoy a stroll through the beautifully landscaped formal gardens designed by Lancelot 'Capability' Brown and more than 2,000 acres of parkland, or walk in the footsteps of Sir Winston Churchill. SIR WINSTON CHURCHILL'S BIRTH ROOM
The Birthplace of the Greatest Britain
Sir Winston Churchill’s Birth Room offers visitors a unique glimpse into the early life of the man who would become Prime Minister and lead Britain through World War II.
The room has been carefully preserved to reflect the period of Churchill's birth in 1874. Its elegant décor and furnishings provide insight into the aristocratic lifestyle of the late 19th century. Personal artifacts and family mementos add depth to the experience, allowing visitors to connect with Churchill's heritage and the rich history of Blenheim Palace.
As you explore this historic space, you'll gain a deeper appreciation for Churchill's connection to Blenheim. Although Sir Winston Churchill didn't grow up in the palace, his birth here forged a lifelong bond with the estate. Churchill often visited Blenheim throughout his life, finding inspiration in its grandeur and family legacy.
FORMAL GARDENS
The Formal Gardens at Blenheim Palace have a rich history that spans centuries, evolving alongside changing tastes and fashions in landscape design. The gardens surround the Palace including the majestic Water Terraces, the Duke's Private Italian Garden, the tranquil Secret Garden with all of its hidden treasures, the Churchill Memorial Garden and the beautifully delicate Rose Garden.
The original gardens were designed and constructed simultaneously with the palace itself. Henry Wise, the initial garden designer, transplanted full-grown trees to create an instant mature look for the 1st Duke of Marlborough, who favoured the elaborate formal style popular at the time.
In the 18th century, the 4th Duke commissioned Lancelot 'Capability' Brown to redesign the landscape.
THE BUFFERFLY HOUSE
Step into a vibrant world of fluttering wings in the Butterfly House, nestled within Blenheim Palace's historic Walled Garden. Since the early 1980s, this tropical oasis has captivated visitors with its diverse collection of butterfly species from across the globe.
Newly renovated for 2024, the Butterfly House offers an enhanced experience for both visitors and its winged inhabitants. The redesigned space boasts improved accessibility and a more immersive environment, allowing guests to get closer to nature than ever before. Marvel at the graceful Red Lacewing, admire the iridescent Emerald Peacock, and be mesmerized by the stunning Blue Wave butterfly. Zebra Finches also flit among the foliage, adding their cheerful presence to this tropical paradise.
